Commitment
Minimum Training Obligation
The minimum annual training obligation is made up of:
- Annual Continuous Training (ACT) which comprises of a maximum of 15 consecutive days, but may be made up of 2 or 3 periods of ACT, one of which must not be for less than 8 consecutive days each Training Year.
- Additional Training (AT) of not less than 12 days in addition to ACT each Training Year. This training is normally carried out at weekends.
Maximum Training Obligation
The maximum number of annual training days per person is currently 37.
Period of engagement - the initial period of service is five years. Extensions of service are permitted for periods of not more than 5 years at a time up to the age of 55, providing an individual can still meet their training requirements, are medically fit and fill a vacancy on the unit establishment.
Call-out for Warlike Operations - you are liable to be called out for permanent service by the Secretary of State if it appears that warlike operations are in preparation or progress.
Physical Fitness - the RAuxAF is a fighting force and take physical fitness seriously. Your level of finess affects:
- your general health and ability to resist illness.
- your mental agility.
- how quickly you react to orders.
- your ability to carry out physical tasks and recover quickly.
All RAuxAF personnel are required to take a fitness test every year. The following table shows the standards required.
